【News】Keep Some for Yourself, Japan!

The First Ones to Help

On Jan 25th, when the outbreak of the disease was in full scale and domestic medical supplies were in urgent need, Japan immediately made emergency preparations for medical supplies and donate 1 million face masks to China, which was among the first batch of foreign aid supplies.

  





Tomiichi Murayama, 96-year old, took a video at his home, holding up the words "Come on Wuhan" in his handwriting and saying "come on" several times.

Yukio Hatoyama : In the video, he said that a few days ago, the goods from Japan were sent to China with the poem "Rivers low, mountains high; The same moon in the sky". He wanted to send this message to his friends who are fighting the virus in Wuhan, Hubei Province and all over China.

  


On Feb 4th: Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying expressed her sincere thanks at a press conference. She said that as soon as the outbreak occurred, the Japanese government said they would fully assist China in the fight against the disease.

"Virus is heartless but people are sentiental. The outbreak is temporary but the friendship is everlasting."

  



Donation Process

When evacuating overseas Chinese, Japan also filled tons of relief materials including masks, protective suits and disinfectant in the plane.

  


Japan has donated more than 100,000 protective suits to hospitals through the Alibaba Fundation.

  


On February 10, the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP) announced that it would raise funds within the party to support China's fight against the disease.


Since Jan. 27, 11 Japanese prefectures and municipalities had donated masks, protective clothing and other materials to China.


In addition to the government's full support, Japanese primary school students have also donated masks to Wuhan.

A 14-year-old Japanese girl wearing a Chinese cheongsams and holding a donation box, bowed deeply to passers-by from morning till night to raise money for Wuhan's fight against the "NCP".

  


In addition to material support, there are more spiritual encouragement from Japan as well. On February 3, the mayor of Wuhe in Japan, wrote a letter to the Dalian

Municipal government, saying he was "very concerned about the outbreak and will continue to collect surgical masks and protective suits to send to Dalian."

Due to the spread of the disease, Japan has also confirmed many patients. The outbreak is so serious that even many local Japanese cannot buy the masks.Countless Chinese netizens saw the situation and said "Don't send any more. Keep some for yourself, as you also need it!!!"
