Located at the front of the Yangtze River delta, Shanghai has a typical subtropical Marine monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons, mild and humid, and plenty of rain, most of which are concentrated from May to September.

As a cosmopolitan city, Shanghai does not have strict seasonal restrictions, but every spring (March to May), Shanghai Qingpu plum blossom, Fengxian rape flower, Pudong peach blossom, Songjiang blue bamboo shoots in turn, very beautiful. Autumn (September to November) is the best season to taste hairy crabs.

The two busiest travel season you have to avoid are the two long festivals — the Chinese National Holiday normally from October 1 to 7 and Chinese New Year in January or February. During the two holidays, large quantities of visitors flush into nearly every scenic area in China and Shanghai is one of the hottest tourist destinations. In addition, the travel cost may triple or even more.
