In addition to these “firsts”

Shannan also embodies the most representative scenery in Tibet.

Snow mountains, lakes, hot springs, canyons, grasslands, mountains, virgin forests, temples and monuments...

  


Lamlaktso Lake

The most legendary lake in Tibet -- Lamlaktso.

"Lam" means fairy, goddess

"La" means lake surface

"Lamlaktso" in Tibetan means "Lucky Goddess Lake".

It's said through the lake one can see his previous and present life.

  


Mindroling Monastery

Mindroling Monastery is located in Zhanang County, Shannan.

Founded in the mid 17th century by Jumeiduojie.


Yamdrok Lake

Yamdrok Lake, is one of the "Three Holy Lakes" in Tibet.

It is the largest inland lake in the northern Himalayas.

Looked down, the lake looks like a coral due to its massive branches.

There are 21 islands scattered inside the lake.

Every late spring and early summer, the herdsmen will take the cattles and sheep to the islands so they can enjoy the grass at leisure.

Chimpuk Meditation Cave

Chimpuk is 15km away from Samye Temple.

You don't fee heat in summer heat, nor coldness in winter, making an ideal summer resort.

The roads along the way are also very suitable for trekking.

It's not a place only for pilgrims, but also for travelers who are interested in nature and culture.

  


Pumo Yumtso

Pumo Yumtso, which means "Maiden Lake" in Tibetan, looks like a blue diamond falling from sky.

It is located in Langarzi County, at the altitude of 5010 meters.

Every winter, the blue ice of lake Pumo Yumtso shines brightly against the backdrop of the snow mountains.

The closest village to heaven is the Tuiwa Village.

It is said that areas above 5000 meters is the forbidden area for life.

Known as the "Highest Village in the World", Tuiwa Village beside Pumo Yumtso Lake has reached 5,070 meters in elevation.


Tsegu Lake

From Tsedang to Tsegu Lake, you can see the fertile water,  grasslands, numerous birds and herds flourishing along the lakeside.

In the southern Tibet Depopulated Zone, you can seee a large number of Tibetan antelopes and Tibetan donkeys.

  


Lebu Valley

Lebu Valley means "Good Place" in Tibetan.

This is the first village on the China-India Border, with many beautiful secrets to be discovered.
