China is a large country with time-honored history. From the ancient times, the ancestors of Chinese laboured, lived, and multiplied on this vast land and have created splendid culture. As one of the four cradles of world's earliest civilizations, it has a recorded history of nearly 4,000 years. Throughout the history of Chinese civilization, its agriculture and handicrafts have been renowned for their high level of sophistication.

PART 1 - Chinese Kong Fu

Chinese Kung Fu is regarded as a traditional sport gaining more and more popularity and even stands as a representative for Chinese culture. Styles including Shaolin, Tai Chi and Qigong have many followers worldwide. Some westerners think that all Chinese people are Kung Fu masters. That’s not true, but this traditional heritage has its unique existence in modern times and left much influence on the locals’ lifestyle.

PART 2 - Chinese Arts & Crafts

China Calligraphy - a highly stylized form of writing - has been developed by many eminent calligraphers with many different dynasties. Being regarded as the 'four treasures of study' (writing brush, ink stick, paper, and ink slab), these are indispensable tools when writing.

Chinese Painting is divided into three genres - figures, landscapes, and birds-and-flowers and each type has its distinctive characteristics. In addition, difficult skills are required to the painters.

Shadow Puppetry is the general name for shadow play and the theatrical property used in the play.  All of the vivid shadow puppets, including the figures and the scenes, are plane and made from leather. The shadows of these puppets are projected on to a white screen; meanwhile artists operate the puppets behind the screen to finish this traditional form of play.

Chinese Opera together with Greece tragic-comedy and Indian Sanskrit Opera are the three oldest dramatic art forms in the world. It evolved from folk songs, dances, talking, antimasque, and especially distinctive dialectical music. For Chinese, especially older folks, to listen to this kind of opera is a real pleasure.

Chinese Embroidery is a brilliant pearl in Chinese art. From the magnificent Dragon Robe worn by Emperors to the popular embroidery seen in today's fashions, it adds so much pleasure to our life and our culture.

Chinese Paper-cut is a very distinctive visual art of Chinese handicrafts. It originated from the 6th century when women used to paste golden and silver foil cuttings onto their hair at the temples, and men used them in sacred rituals.

PART 3 - Chinese Tea Culture

The Chinese have an ancient saying: 'Firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea are the seven necessities to begin a day.' Though tea is last on the list, we still can see its importance in Chinese people's daily life. For the Chinese, tea drinking and tasting are not the same. Tea drinking is for refreshment and tonic effect.

PART 4 - Food Culture

The ingredients of each dish and presentation are as much important as table manners and courtesy in the Chinese cultural tradition. Only by combining excellent dishes with good manners, can the high art of Chinese cuisine be truly enjoyed to the full.

PART 5 - Taditional Han Chinese Clothing (Hanfu)

Hanfu, a national formal wear, takes its name from the times of the Han Dynasty. A complete set of Hanfu, covers the clothing, clothing accessories, jewelry etc, and reflects the rituals of Chinese culture from that era.
